About National Award

Annually, during “The National Festival And International Congress on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine”, in order to promote stem cell sciences and technologies among students and researchers and to drive research into applied and technological production, with a focus on young generation, "National Award for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine" is announced in four sections: The best Idea, Invention, Article and Thesis. Each section has one winner.
The deadline for participating in the third “National Award for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine” is July 22, 2018. In the best idea section, four applicants, who receive the best scores for their submitted idea according to reviewers’ judgment, are invited to defend their ideas during the festival in the presence of the experts’ panel. The experts’ panel, then, selects and announces one winner. In the other three sections, the winners are determined based on a scoring checklist. Finally, winners of the 4 sections are announced and appreciated at the closing ceremony of the Festival.

National Award sections:
Applicants' requirements for participation in each section are as follow:

- The best idea:
The applicant must be a university student at the time of registration.
The applicant's idea should be relevant to the field of stem cell sciences and regenerative medicine.
The idea should be novel and innovative and must not correspond to a published article or a patent.

- The best article:
The applicants should be under 35 years old at the time of registration.
The article should be original and its subject should be relevant to the field of stem cell sciences and regenerative medicine.
The applicant must be the first or corresponding author, and their affiliation should pertain to Iranian academic institutions.
The paper should be published on the year 2017 or 2018.
The paper should be indexed at the Thomson Reuters ISI database and the minimum impact factor should be 2.

- The best thesis:
The applicant's age at the time of thesis defense must be under 35 years.
The thesis topic should be relevant to the field of stem cell sciences and regenerative medicine, and at the time of the award’s call for submission, no more than 2 years should be passed after the applicant's graduation.
Only theses that have defense session documentation will be considered.
The applicant must have at least two original papers from their thesis.
The impact factor of one article should be 3 or more and the second article should be published in a journal with an impact factor of at least 2.
An international patent is considered as an article with an impact factor of 3 and higher.

- The best invention:
The applicants must be less than 35 years old at the time of registration.
The subject of the invention should be related to the stem cell sciences and technologies.

Report of the first National Award on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine
In the first National Award for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, winners were announced at the closing ceremony on June 21, 2016. Dr. Abdol-Mohammad Kajbafzadeh, (Professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences) and Dr. Elaheh Ellahi, (Professor at the University of Tehran) were selected as pioneer professors in the field of Stem Cell and regenerative Medicine. These professors were appreciated with receiving a research grants for 500 million Rials, along with a memorial plaque. In the best article section, Hassan Ansari came on first. Behshad Pournasr Khakabaz and Maryam Mohajeri shared the title of the best thesis. In the best idea section, Mohsen Mazloum Rezaei placed first, Rashin Mohseni came in second and Zohreh Bolandi placed third, while the best invention section had no winner.

Report of the second National Award on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine

In July 2017, the winners of the second National Award for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine were announced. Abbas Aflatounian, (Professor of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences) and was praised as the pioneer professor in the field of Stem Cell and regenerative Medicine. In the best article section, Mahdi Sadat-Shojaei came on first. Esmaeil Sharifi received the title of the best thesis. In the best idea section, Mehdi Rezayat Cehran and Motahhareh Arjmandnejad were appreciated. The best invention section had no winner.
